A new-song release campaign
Bright Antenna is a record label focused on artist development, and one of its artists is Meg Elsier. They wanted a promotional game built around her new song “Sports Car,” complete with a leaderboard — and the top player would win a gift from the singer herself.
The mechanics were simple, but the game had to embed directly into their website so that any visitor could play it right there.
Gathering the brief and clearing the blockers
Understanding the requirement
The mechanics were easy to grasp — a car moving left and right, dodging obstacles. The real focus was keeping it fast to load and making it run inside an iframe on the web.
Choosing the tech stack
We chose Phaser, a lightweight web game engine that was perfect for this use case. Unity or another heavy engine would only have made the game slower to load and harder to integrate.
Development & delivery
Once the core mechanics were ready in Phaser, we connected it to Firebase for the leaderboard and embedded it into their website for the campaign. Phaser made the game load almost instantly, letting plenty of viewers jump in and post a score.
A fast, lightweight obstacle-dodging game with a leaderboard
The game loaded quickly and handled plenty of concurrent players while storing their scores — making the campaign a success with strong user engagement.
WHAT THE CLIENT SAYS
“Maziminds brought my game idea to life and I couldn't be happier with the final product. They were easy to work with, skilled and professional — full of ideas while still listening to mine, and they even created custom game art from the photos I sent. Highly recommend!”
